Supporters trust urge fans to jump on the promotion bandwagon

With Shrewsbury Town in an automatic promotion place in League two, Shrewstrust are urging the people of Shropshire to jump on the promotion bandwagon by attending the last 2 home games of the season.

Marcus Braddock, Shrewstrust media director:” We are in the best position we have had in nearly 20 years for promotion to League one and every extra supporter we can attract will make a difference. The club need people to come to the Greenhous Meadow and cheer their local side on to promotion!”

Tuesdays re-arranged game with Port Vale provides new and old supporter with the perfect opportunity to be part of something unique. The Port Vale game was abandoned after an electrical fire and Shrewsbury Town are offering admission at a reduced price of £10 and £5 for concessions.

Mike Davis, Shrewstrust Chairman:”With the reduced price because of the fire, it gives anyone who hasn't made it to a home game this season with a great opportunity to be part of the promotion campaign. The noisier it is the better and Graham Turner has asked for supporters to make as much noise as possible, so get down to the ground on Tuesday night!”

Adrian Plimmer, Shrewstrust board member:”It's been a great season so far and a record breaking one. We only need to win our two remaining home games to go a whole season unbeaten at the Greenhous Meadow. I would urge anyone who has the slightest interest in Shrewsbury Town, to get down to the Meadow and be part of something special!”

Tickets can be bought at the Greenhous Meadowand on the internet at www.shrewsburyfc.talent-sport.co.uk.

Shrewstrust are a democratic, non profit organisation, made up of committed Shrewsbury Town fans. Our aims are to help give fans a voice in the decision-making process of the Club, and to Help strengthen links between our football club and the community it serves.

The Trust is run entirely by volunteers and is led by a board of directors, elected by their fellow members. Each adult member has 1 share only in the Trust, Meaning that no one person can own a supporters trust. One Trust, One vote, one club.

The main perceived involvement of a supporters trust is when they have to help out with the running of a bankrupt football club that has overstretched itself. Luckily at Shrewsbury Town, that is not a problem, we seem to have a relatively prudent football club, a rare quality in the mad world of football. But like insurance on a car, every football club needs one just in case the worst happens. We know that our current board are Shrewsbury supporters and have the clubs best interests at heart, but the future is a long time and none of us know what is round the corner. For the moment, we busy ourselves with other fan orientated projects, much like any other supporters group.

But we are not just another fans group, the Trust, is a legally constituted Society governed by U.K. Law and is accountable for its actions. We run campaigns with a focus on supporters and their needs, like our transport scheme that has made life easier for many thousands of fans. We also organise events to support our projects and sometimes just for the fun of getting together. Our 2 main events so far have been the “end of an era” legends event to commemorate the last League match at Gay Meadow, and our Heroes and Legends event at the Greenhous Meadow. The latter event was also run in conjunction with the Superblues, which ties in with our community involvement. We also run lots of smaller events too, like our poker competitions and bowls evenings at the Prince Of Wales in Belle Vue.

Involvement is the key word at Shrewstrust, we are supporters who want to be more involved in the football club we love. We get involved in all sorts of interesting projects and events which make life far more interesting. So involve yourself for just a fiver, you wont regret it, just click on the join us page or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
